Our vision statement:  The El Dorado Healthy Marriages Coalition promotes Marriage Education and Relationship Enhancement classes to organizations and couples giving El Dorado County healthy and long lasting marriages and healthy families.

Mission Statement - Reduce the divorce rate in El Dorado County.

The El Dorado Healthy Marriages Coalition is a non-profit corporation started in 2006. We are affiliated with the California Healthy Marriages Coalition (www.camarriage.com). Our purpose is to coordinate and publicize marriage education programs in El Dorado County.  Faith-based and community-based organizations in El Dorado County are encouraged to join us and together we will lower the divorce rate in El Dorado County.

Coalition history

We began under the intiation of the California Healthy Marriages Coalition and we received our initial funding from them (www.camarriage.com). Fr. Craig Kuehn of the Episcopal Church of Our Saviour, Placerville and Meredith Koch of Marshall Hospital, Placerville attended a workshop about grant opportunities promoting healthy marriages. Ever since then, the project snowballed into a coalition of faith-based and community-based organizations interested in and offering marriage and related programs to the people of El Dorado County, California.

We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization as recognized by the Internal Revenue Service.

"God bless you in this work." Tom and Lee Weikert

Dear Abby: Some months ago, you printed a letter from a reader
who was disturbed that the spark was gone from her marriage.
I asked my husband whether the spark is gone from our 18-year marriage. His response: "A spark lasts only a second. It lights a fire. When the flame burns down, we are left with the hottest part of the fire, the embers, which burn the longest and keep the fire alive."
Betty in Cap May, N.J.

"For a marriage to have any chance, every day at least six things should go unsaid."

"You can't be right and married at the same time. If you're trying to be right and prove your partner wrong, you've stepped outside the marriage."

"To get divorced because love has died, is like selling your car
because it's run out of gas."
Diane Sollee, smartmarriages.com

"If you want peace, work for justice. That's true for marriage, or for any other human endeavor."

"Love doesn't sit there like a stone, it has to be made, like bread; re-made everyday, made new."
